Safe Harbor Community Church

About Us

Associate Pastor: Dr. Daniel Sloan

I was born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio.  I attended Liberty University, graduating with a bachelor in Biblical Studies, and met my wife Natalie there as well.  We have been married since 2012 and have a little puppy named Belle.  I have a PhD in Theology and Apologetics with a Concentration in Old Testament from Liberty University. I also serve as an adjunct professor for Liberty. I am a huge sports fan, especially LA Ram's football, Cleveland Indian's baseball, and everything Ohio State and Liberty.
I have been serving as Associate Pastor at Safe Harbor beginning in September of 2012.  My passions include evangelism, teaching, preaching, and outreach.

Senior Pastor: Reverend Jerry Parr

I was born and raised in Salem, VA. The youngest of three children. I married my high school sweetheart, Liz. We have two sons. Jacob is a graduate of Roanoke College and VCU. He is a high school teacher (History) and boys varsity basketball coach. Nathan is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and a high school teacher (Math) and boys varsity basketball and soccer coach. As you can see our family enjoys sports. However, our greatest commitment is to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I graduated from SEBTS. I served in prison ministries, and as the Chaplain of the Roanoke  Rescue Mission for several years. I have been involved in the ministry for 20+ years. I like to use humor in my preaching, while yet taking very seriously the life changing Word of God. The casual atmosphere and dress at Safe Harbor makes for a loving family-like worship experience. John 3:30 contains the verse "I may decrease, that He may increase" that I try to live out in my life. If you visit Safe Harbor I look forward to introducing myself to you. But my prayer is that while you are here you will be introduced (drawn closer) to Jesus. For He alone can change a life.

Our Vision

Encourage the Hurting, Equip and Enable the Believer and Enlighten the People through the Life Changing Hope Found in Jesus Christ.

Our Values

  • Our values are those truths that form the basis of how we operate.
  • Distinctively Bible-based.
  • People matter to God and therefore matter to us.
  • If one of us falls we go to help them up. For one day we may fall and need them to help us up.
  • We live by Grace, not by rules.
  • Love is the primary message of the gospel and is our defining value.
  • We are more concerned with having a personal relationship with Jesus, than being religious.
  • Everyone is uniquely made by the hand of God with given talents and gifts.
  • God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
  • Helping people of all ages find their most effective area of service. Committed to reaching our neighbors.
